New version of NLQ for E-Business Suite

This blog post was written by Johannes Michler (Chief Technology Officer (CTO) @ Broadpin & Oracle Ace Director). It was originally published on 21 October 2025 by PROMATIS, which is now Broadpin.

Last week, beside of publishing E-Business Suite EBS 12.2.15 and Enterprise Command Centers ECC v15 also dropped a new version of the "Enabling Natural Language Query of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2, Leveraging OCI Generative AI" solution.

Diffing the new version

First of all I did a quick diff between the July and the October version:

Diff to the latest EBS-NLQ-Solution

It is obvious that the new version is basically "just" an additional domain; the "Procurement" Domain.

Documentation

The documentation describes the new functionality in quite some detail:

Domain description as per the Oracle Documentation

Installation

After the straight-forward installation of the new packages to the ADB and the EBS Database the usage of the new functionality also requires assigning the new privilege "EBS NLQ permission for Procurement domain" to "your" appropriate Permission Set(s).

Trying it out

After having installed the latest version, the E-Business Suite Natural Language Query functionality is also able to answer questions related to the procurement domain:

List on-time delivery performance by suppliers.

Summary

It's nice that Oracle continues extending the out-of-the-box domains of the pre-built NLQ solution. Furthermore, as shown in previous blog posts you can always extend the domains or even create new domains by customizations.
