Release Notes PITSS.CON 26ai

PITSS.CON 26ai brings Oracle Database Annotations into the modernization workflow, giving AI agents the semantic foundation they need to work with legacy data structures. It also adds support for Oracle Database 23ai and 26ai, a new ANTLR 4-based parser, and performance improvements across the product suite. Here is what is new.

With PITSS.CON 26ai, Oracle Database Annotations become part of the PITSS.CON workflow. Annotations provide metadata for Oracle database objects and can be shared across applications, modules, and microservices. They form the basis for a metadata infrastructure that is crucial for AI-based software development. PITSS.CON 26ai introduces a new capability to generate and maintain Oracle Database Annotations for Oracle database objects.*

Oracle Database Annotations

A key focus of this release is the ability to generate Oracle Database Annotations from existing data, such as Forms sources and data models or structures. Data objects receive semantic context that other applications and AI agents can interpret. This metadata can be shared across applications, modules, and microservices. This semantic layer is what AI-based development tools need to work with database objects reliably.

AI Annotation Modeler

To support the new annotation capabilities, PITSS.CON 26ai introduces a completely new APEX application: the AI Annotation Modeler. The application uses information from Oracle Forms applications that have been reverse-engineered and loaded into the PITSS.CON Repository. Based on this information, annotations for tables and columns can be generated and modified.

Oracle Database 23ai and 26ai

PITSS.CON has been updated to support and run on Oracle Database 23ai and 26ai. To enable compatibility with these Oracle Database versions, the encryption algorithm used with the latest DBMS_CRYPTO packages has been updated.

Further enhancements across the PITSS.CON Product Suite

Beyond the two key topics of Oracle Database Annotations and support for Oracle Database 23ai and 26ai, PITSS.CON 26ai also brings enhancements across the PITSS.CON Product Suite.

New Parser generation based on ANTLR 4

PITSS.CON is now based on ANTLR 4, a parser generator that helps analyze source code based on defined language rules and supports additional language constructs. The new parser generation provides the basis for broader language support within PITSS.CON and enhanced reverse-engineering capabilities.

Forms2APEX Modeler enhancements

The Forms2APEX Modeler includes several enhancements to the checklist. Users can now configure which properties of Forms, Blocks, and Items should be displayed.

ProFind performance improvements

The ProFind dashboard has been reworked with a focus on performance when working with multiple millions of records.

Performance improvements have also been made to the recording and loading of WLS trace files into the PITSS.CON Repository. Trace files can now be loaded in parallel, enabling the analysis of application usage across multiple hundreds of concurrent users, even in larger installations. This makes application usage analysis faster and more comprehensive, even when working with large amounts of data and many concurrent users.

*Annotations were introduced with Oracle 23ai and are available starting with Oracle 19.28.
